AGENDA DISCUSSION ITEM for 2/26/2022 Dockton Water Association (DWA) Board Meeting: An update on the status of the Small Water System Plan coupled with a motion for a vote by the DWA Board of Directors to immediately stop “Consideration of Hake Springs Easement” for a driveway currently posted on the DWA Web-site.

Rationale: As discussed at the January 22 DWA Board meeting, multiple concerns were expressed on being premature with moving ahead regarding consideration of an easement, particularly in the absence of additional information about the Hake Springs property. Completion of the Small Water System Plan could help answer some questions along with enabling the ability to pursue available funding opportunities. This includes financial support for studies to examine any potential for future water production from this property.

The President’s Report described in the draft minutes for the January 22 meeting states: “Would like to have Ben Dahle’s report before the annual meeting”. Again, an updated plan (Ben Dahle’s report) could help answer common questions raised at the January meeting (or at least provide the basis for a much more informed debate on the issue). Obviously, the Hake Springs property is a community asset. Granting an easement potentially deprives the community of the full value of that asset. By having a Board vote at the February meeting sends a very clear message to DWA members on the Board’s position regarding how much they value of that asset.
