Financial Summary – January 2021

Financial Summary – January 2021

Very low Operations costs in January resulted in a very “profitable” month. (This is important as most of our upcoming months will be at a loss — so it’s nice to be a bit ahead.) Last January we booked a number of large expenses (Legal, Accounting, Insurance) which we have already paid, this year. Capital Improvement costs (Filtration Plant) at $26k are still running light: big bills yet to come.

On a YTD basis, 61% of Income means we are still a bit ahead of our 12 month expected average. A wet spring, like last year, and we will come up short on billed revenue, this year. (I know it’s not a popular sentiment — but we have plenty of water, it ultimately makes its way to the Sound (or evaporates), so if you like, you can encourage (billable) water use this year!) Systems Operations is running well below budget — Thanks Dave! And Taxes are low, of course, because we budgeted for the KingCo RoW tax… TBD…

In February, we will begin drawing down our capital reserves, now held at Kitsap Bank. By end of March we will determine how much of our loan to tap. If project stays at/under cost we may be able to limit our draw to $200k (as budgeted), but we have access to $250k, if needed.

Financially and operationally we are doing fine and are on track.
