Financial Summary – April 2021

Financial Summary – April 2021

We have $30k more in our Operations Fund than budgeted for end of year. This should increase a bit further in the next couple months. Primary reason is that we have not paid a franchise fee to KingCo (budgeted $12k) and most of the consulting fee for the Small Water System Plan has not yet been billed ($22k budgeted). You can see these in the System Operations and Taxes line items, below.

Overall, we have still been billing slightly less water than previous years. Staffing costs are right on target. Business Operations will run a bit over budget, as forecasted. System Operations is managing to run a tight ship, though we can see pressure on our energy costs, which are already, in 10 months, 109% of what we budgeted for the entire year.

Our System Replacements fund will remain flush, as we have held back on any projects this year. And our Capital Improvement costs (higher than we budgeted 13 months ago, but in line with the competitive bidding) are just about complete.

Overall — the business is doing fine and we expect to finish the year in a good position — and with a greatly improved water source at Sandy Shores!
